Unipart Group, one of Europe’s leading manufacturing, logistics and consultancy companies, has achieved its highest ever number of safety accolades in this year’s British Safety Council Sword and Globe of Honour awards.

The company achieved a record-breaking 13 Swords of Honour for its sites up and down the country. This award is recognised as the pinnacle of achievement in the world of health and safety management. The company now has amassed a total of 48 Swords of Honour over seven years.

Unipart also received five Globes of Honour which recognises a deep commitment to excellent environmental management standards. Globes of Honour are a globally recognised accolade with only nine other organisations in the world managing to achieve this prestigious award.

In order to compete for the Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour, Unipart Group first had to achieve the maximum five stars in the British Safety Council’s health and safety and environmental management audit scheme in the period August 2016 – July 2017. In addition, they also demonstrated to an independent panel of experts that they are excellent in their health and safety and environmental management throughout the business – from the shopfloor to the boardroom.

Unipart credits its success to The Unipart Way, the company’s proprietary business system for continuous improvement that is used by Unipart sites worldwide. The Unipart Way is a major contributor to the company’s safety record as well as increases in productivity.

Unipart Chairman and Group Chief Executive, John Neill CBE, said: “Delivering world-class standards is what we aspire to do every day at Unipart. Winning this record number of awards is down to our passionate people and also to how The Unipart Way is used to inspire them to continuously improve in these important areas of our business.”

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the trustees and staff of the British Safety Council, I would like to congratulate Unipart Group for their huge commitment to keeping their workplaces safe and healthy and minimising risks to the environment from their organisations’ day-to-day activities.

“All of the Sword and Globe winning organisations share a commitment and resolve to achieving the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management. We are delighted that they are partners in helping achieve our vision that no one should be injured or made ill at work.”

This comes after only a few months ago, Unipart received an outstanding achievement award for safety at the International Safety Awards.
